I’m Jo and a humanistic counsellor based in Brighton. Speaking with me will allow you to find the ‘why’ power behind the changes you’d like to make, to understand your reactions & experience of distress and create a new perception of your Self in the world in order to move on in life. As a humanistic therapist, my specialism is the human experience.
I'm conscious of how our stories connect us to our past, present & future which is why I'll work with you to understand your world from your point of view. I am informed by humanistic philosophy and therapeutic theory and strongly believe that establishing a solid, therapeutic relationship is key to facilitating changes in life.
I holds an enhanced DBS & I'm accredited through The National Counselling Society, and abide by their code of ethics. You can find more information about my qualifications via my website. I offer both long & short term counselling for individuals & groups in Brighton (BN1).
As a practitioner, I've worked as a voluntary therapist at an inner city college in the Midlands (age 18+) and been a voluntary counsellor working with families and carers of substance users within the Brighton & Hove area. My work with both placements often focussed on clients beginning to safely to express feelings. exploring their interpersonal relationships and vulnerability in the face of tragedy.
With all therapeutic work, I have an experienced supervisor to ensure I continue to excel with my professional standards and development.
