My Therapeutic Approach
My approach as a Person-Centered counsellor is empathic and non-judgmental and caters to the individual needs of each client. I work with a diverse range of issues including bereavement, stress, anxiety, relationship issues, couples counselling, depression, and low self-esteem.
You can get general support from counselling, or concentrate on more specific issues such as panic, depression, generalized anxiety, bereavement, or relationship issues. Within the counselling environment you will be able to develop a relationship with a counsellor that you feel comfortable with, and work together in a collaborative way. I believe that we all have the ability within ourselves to affect not only change, but to change ourselves in the way that is best for us.
I have worked in the following organisations: Rise - with women who have experienced anxiety, depression & relational abuse. The Maytree Sanctuary - working with people in a suicidal crisis
I currently work at Survivors Network with people who have experienced childhood sexual abuse; Pavillions with couples who are experiencing drug/alcohol issues and as a school counsellor with young people ages 5-18.
I have also trained with the Oasis Women's Project and volunteered with the Samaritans for a number of years. More recently I have volunteered as a counsellor with Crisis which is the national charity for homeless people.
