Therapists
Life is a journey. Why not enjoy the ride? As an experienced counsellor, I understand people arrive at therapy with having lived different lives and having experienced different experiences. I work in a way that tailors the therapy approach to your needs by using a variety of modalities such as CBT, ACT, Narrative Therapy and EMDR. I see my counselling role as an opportunity for me to walk beside you in a non-judgemental, empathetic and collaborative way, using the therapeutic skills I have learned through my own life experiences and my years of counselling work to help you get to a path to make the meaningful changes in your life that you are searching for. As a therapist, I have experience in working with LGBTQI+ community, depression, anxiety, behavioural issues, anger issues, sexuality, gender identity, adverse childhood experiences, problematic sexual behaviour, porn addiction / compulsions, trauma (using EMDR), sexual abuse and relationship issues. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and have full public liability insurance. I also attend regular supervision and keep up to date with regular CPD (Continuing Professional Development). I currently work out of Brighton, Hove and London, offering face to face and online sessions, both long term and short term.
Anything new can feel a little daunting, and counselling is no exception. Talking about difficult experiences or feelings might seem intimidating, especially if you're not sure what you want to achieve. But, like anything else, it's often not as hard as you were expecting. And I'm here to help and support you through the process. Our first session will generally be an opportunity for us to get to know each other a little. We'll speak about what's brought you to counselling, and what you would like to achieve through future meetings. It's a chance for you to talk about the problem as you see it. But there's no pressure - you can share as much or as little as you want to. Either way, I'll work with you to find insight into the issues you are dealing with. Counselling is a way for you to take back the power in your life and take the first step onto a path that gives you hope.
As a counsellor I am passionate about providing compassionate care and helping individuals of all diversities to navigate difficult times, to help others change or feel seen and heard in a way that empowers them to gain the much-needed resources to get to an autonomous sense of wellbeing that helps reduce the pressured mental health system we have today. I believe in a therapeutic process of the importance of building a relationship, by seeing an individual on a physical, emotional, social and spiritual level. I see this role as a way for me to challenge myself and grow as a therapist, while working within an organisation that is driven on helping my community, and to give back to a community I am a part of.
