Therapists
A psychotherapist with United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) accreditation and British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) registration, I specialise in providing support to adults (particularly young adults) and adolescents. I have clinical experience working with a wide range of issues including trauma, bereavement, family conflict, separation and divorce, anxiety, stress, self-harm, low self esteem, identity, ADHD and life transitions.
I work integratively by tailoring my approach to each of my clients, using a variety of therapy models all underpinned by neurobiological research, including talking therapy and if appropriate the use of creative media. I adopt a holistic approach to my work - acknowledging that you can’t “separate out” the mind and body, and also considering the positive influence of lifestyle factors on emotional well-being and resilience. First and foremost, I focus on building trust and a warm, therapeutic relationship with each of my clients. I offer therapy in person in Hove and West Hampstead, and online. I also offer parent consultations. I work with an independent supervisor on a weekly basis to support my reflective practice.
I previously practised as a lawyer in the City. I therefore understand the dynamics of high pressure, competitive environments which people may find themselves in. I am qualified as a lawyer both in the UK and South Africa. I emigrated from South Africa to the UK as a young adult. I still have strong ties there. In particular, I am a long-standing trustee of the Garden Route Children's Trust, a UK registered charity which funds nutritional breakfasts for South African children in need. I have two young adult sons, both of whom have ADHD which was diagnosed in adolescence. My outside interests for relaxation include walking my dogs, swimming year round in the sea and writing poetry. I recently authored a chapter on relationship repair (between adult and young person), published in Bombèr, L. M., Fellows, J., Kilshaw, L., Palmer, L., Lotter, T. & Michell, C. (2025) Restoring Education: Educators paving the way to radical change through relationship Broadway, UK: Worth Publishing.
