Therapists
I work with clients who are struggling with their life circumstances, mental health, or just need someone to talk to. I may be the right therapist for you if you’ve tried therapy before and it didn’t feel helpful. Perhaps it left you feeling discouraged, or as though you were failing, or the approaches or techniques you were offered didn’t feel like the right fit. I offer a space where you can genuinely be you, and where you will not feel like you have to fit a certain mould to make therapy work.
My approach is 'person-centred', a style of therapy rooted in the work of Carl Rogers, a pioneering psychologist who studied thousands of hours of therapy sessions to understand what truly helps people change. His research showed that lasting change does not come from techniques, exercises, or advice-giving, but from the quality of the therapeutic relationship. Rogers identified that when a therapist offers a particular relational environment, clients are able to explore their experiences more deeply and move towards growth and change. Contemporary research continues to support this understanding, consistently showing that the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in effective therapy, regardless of approach (BACP:What works in counselling and psychotherapy relationships).
I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor offering person-centred therapy in Brighton and online. I have experience working with a wide range of clients through RISE UK, a Brighton-based domestic abuse counselling service, therapy agencies in London, and within mental health supported housing, supporting people with diverse psychiatric diagnoses and life experiences. My training is person-centred, grounded in the belief that each individual is unique and responds to life’s challenges in their own way. I work from the understanding that clients are the experts in their own experience. Through an empathic, non-oppressive therapeutic relationship, I support clients to develop deeper self-understanding and self-acceptance, enabling them to find their own way forward with the difficulties they face.
