Hello, my name is Marti. I offer counselling for adults in Brighton and online. People come to me for many reasons, including anxiety, bereavement, grief, low self-esteem, and a general sense of feeling stuck or overwhelmed. Before becoming a therapist, I worked in both the police and corporate sectors. Over time, I realised I wanted my work to focus more directly on supporting individuals, which ultimately led me into counselling. Alongside private practice, I also support people experiencing grief and bereavement within a hospice setting.
My approach is integrative, with humanistic and relational values at its core. I aim to offer a calm and supportive space where people can speak openly without judgement or pressure. I believe therapy should be shaped around the individual rather than forcing someone into a fixed approach or expectation. Sessions can provide space to reflect, better understand yourself, and work through experiences that may feel difficult to carry alone.
Prior to training as a counsellor, I worked within both the police and corporate sectors. My experience across these environments gave me insight into stress, pressure, responsibility, and the impact that life experiences can have on emotional wellbeing. I later chose to retrain in counselling in order to work more directly with individuals in a supportive and relational setting. Alongside private practice, I currently support people experiencing grief and bereavement within a hospice environment.
