I’m an HCPC, BAAT-registered Art Psychotherapist motivated by the belief that therapy should be real, accessible, warm, and grounded in humanity - now more so than ever. That’s what makes me tick: connecting with people to better understand their unique experience of this world and the challenges they may be facing so that they can make positive, meaningful changes to support their mental health long after they’ve left the therapy room. I work with folks facing a diverse range of mental health challenges, but specialisms include: Grief + bereavement: death + non-death related loss (incl. relationship endings/separation, redundancy, health + physical changes, unexpected life shifts, + more) Anxiety Depression Relationship challenges Identity exploration, incl. LGBTQIA+ affirmation Trauma + PTSD Stress + burnout Self-confidence + negative self image In my practice I offer space for you to feel safe, seen, and heard in your emotional exploration, and working as a psychodynamic practitioner, what you bring into the session is what we’ll lead with. However, therapy can be a confronting experience at times. Part of my role is to gently challenge you to sit in that vulnerability and discomfort in order to help you uncover parts of yourself that might’ve previously been hidden. This is my ‘why’ because for me there is nae greater privilege than working with people to develop these tools ‘n’ insight. If you’re interested in knowing what else brings me j.o.y. - collecting vinyl, reading, sea-dipping, creating art, and my whippet Cora-Gene are a good place to start. That’s me, Taz. It’s ace to meet you.
My psychodynamic approach is person-centred, meaning I’ll provide a deeply human, non-judgemental, and empathetic space for you to explore your emotions and experiences, gently challenge you to sit with the hard feelings, and meet them with curiosity so that you can identify within yourself the tools and resources you already have to face the difficult days, inside and outside the therapy room. Art-making in sessions is always optional so we can work verbally, creatively, or combine the two based on your preference. However you’re wanting to express yourself, I’ll meet you where you are.
I have a particular depth of experience working within grief and bereavement - an area that’s a big passion of mine and one that I champion the conversation of in my day-to-day work and writing. Previous settings of work have been within the grief and bereavement charity sector, hospice world supporting those experiencing palliative/end-of-life care and their loved ones, and secondary education including work with those with learning disabilities.
