I am an experienced and qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and have worked extensively since 2017 with adults and young adults (18-25's). I am accredited by the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy; meeting their higher standards as a competent, ethical and independent practitioner. I work in private practice and as a Senior Therapist at a long-established therapy clinic in Brighton and Hove, and offer both in-person and online sessions. Primarily I work in a psychodynamic and relational way, but I have also trained in other modalities or techniques which I may use where appropriate - for example CBT or breathwork (for more information, see 'my approach') . I have experience working with many issues throughout my career. Some areas I regularly work with include: depression, anxiety, family issues, trauma, bereavement, neurodiversity (particularly to do with processing the impact and reality of living in a neurotypical world on the individual and their relationships and working with those pursuing diagnosis or processing late diagnosis); relationship issues, conflict, perfectionism, procrastination, rejection sensitivity, setting boundaries, self-esteem issues and working with people wanting to explore their identity, sexuality or gender. But this list is by no means exclusive as I have worked with such wide range of individuals. I am open, friendly and my practice is supportive of different cultural backgrounds ethnicities and is LGBTQIA+ and Neurodivergent affirming. I undertake regular CPD and additional training to ensure my knowledge and expertise remain current with best practice. As a psychodynamic therapist, I believe our earlier life experiences and relationships persist in affecting our ways of behaving, relating and feeling in the present; both consciously and unconsciously; and that developing greater awareness of this can be an important step if we want to make changes - It is sometimes hard to know what you need or want (or don't want), until you understand what you are! Alongside this we may also agree to use some tools to help with the 'doing' aspect of creating change outside of the therapy room - as so much of the work of change happens here too! So I may incorporate psychoeducation, Breathwork, and CBT for example. We are all different and seek therapy for various reasons, therefore I tailor my approach to the individual and their needs and create a safe space in which to explore what matters most to you. My style is warm, professional and non-judgmental as well as active and collaborative. I aim to sensitively and appropriately challenge my clients in an empathetic way to provide new insights and perspectives.

For the past decade I have practiced as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor in Brighton. Prior to training as a therapist I worked in both Public and Mental Health at the Local Authority as well as at Mind in Brighton & Hove. I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Psychotherapeutic Counselling (Dist) (BACP Accredited Course at Brighton University).
