I am an Integrative Psychotherapist registered with with the BACP and UKCP. I offer short and longer-term counselling and psychotherapy. Previously I worked in many community settings including the Mid Sussex, Horsham and Crawley and Arun counselling centres. I have been in private practice since 2019. Having recently completed level 1 of the EMDR training, I am also able to offer this treatment, subject to an initial assessment. My style is open, warm, and I approach my work from a place of respect and curiosity and collaboration. I am an inclusive, LGBTQIA+ affirmative practitioner, interested in working with people from all parts of the community. I have a particular interest in working with people who are experiencing one or more of the following: anxiety, low moods, depression, trauma, relationship issues, workplace difficulties, bereavements/loss, feeling stuck or lost or that life lacks meaning, difficult life transitions.

I work with individuals face to face and offer both short-term or longer-term more in depth work. Central to my work is my aim to create a safe, supportive, therapeutic relationship. I do this by: (1) Offering a confidential space for you to explore what you want to bring. (2) Creating a respectful non-judgemental relationship which values difference and diversity. (3) Bringing clarity to our initial sessions about the way I work, what I can offer you, what you might gain from the sessions. (4) A commitment to listen to an understand things from your perspective. It is important that you feel heard. (5) Working relationally at your pace to help you make sense of things. As an integrative practitioner, I use a range of approaches tailored to your needs. (6) Valuing always your innate wisdom and strengths. Building and developing your own resources. (7) Building in regular reviews, to make sure that the work continues to meet your needs. . My style is warm, collaborative, flexible, exploratory and creative. The theoretical approaches I integrate mostly into my practice are drawn from the psycho-dynamic, humanistic and existential traditions. Because sometimes, it can feel hard to understand feelings or put them into words, other cutting-edge approaches I use include the following: neuroscience and trauma theories (creative ways to work with the brain and nervous system), sensory motor psychotherapy and body approaches, Internal Family Systems (a useful tool to work with trauma), creative approaches (spotify music lists and arts interventions). I understand that it can feel hard reaching out and so if you are interested in working with me, you are welcome to drop me an email. I will then arrange an initial free 15 minute telephone conversation with you before we decide to meet. I then offer two initial sessions which will give you an opportunity to share what is concerning you and to see whether you feel comfortable working with me going fowards. If we decide to work together, I suggest regular reviews to make sure we are staying on track. I am an ethical practitioner and my two regulatory bodies are the BACP and UKCP. I continually update my knowledge and skills by attending regular professional development activities and clinical supervision with a senior practitioner.

Before training as a psychotherapist, I was a teacher and then had various professional roles within healthcare sectors for 25 years. In my present career, I draw upon my own varied life experience and bring to my work my passions for the arts, health and well being. I am a keen singer and yoga practitioner.
