Therapists

Welcome, I'm Tim and my aim is to provide you with a confidential and safe environment where you can talk freely about what has brought you here. I have extensive experience of working with addiction, anxiety and depression, trauma, ADHD and relationships. I have worked in various healthcare settings as a therapist and have been in private practice for more than ten years. My therapy style is empathic, authentic and gently challenging and is aimed at supporting the development of self-awareness that offers you the clarity and choice to live authentically. I work from comfortable consulting rooms in Brighton & Hove and at various locations in London and also offer online appointments for those who prefer the convenience of having therapy in their own space. I understand that seeking help can be a difficult and vulnerable experience, which is why I provide a confidential and non-judgmental space that is designed to foster trust and mutual respect. I believe that every individual has a unique story and set of experiences, and I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without fear of judgement. All of my appointments are in line with the ethical and professional standards set out by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This means that you can trust that I will always act in your best interest, respect your autonomy, and maintain the confidentiality of our work together.

My therapy style is empathic, authentic and gently challenging and is aimed at supporting the development of self-awareness that offers you the clarity and choice to live authentically. My recent professional development is in ‘Compassionate Inquiry’ (CI) which is a psychotherapeutic approach that has been developed by Gabor Maté, a well known Canadian physician and author. This approach is based on the view that addictions, anxiety disorders or ADHD are coping strategies that develop in response to deep seated emotional pain that has its roots in childhood experiences or early attachment difficulties. CI is a unique way of working and something that I incorporate into my practice when appropriate. If you would like to find out more about this way of working please do not hesitate to contact me. I also have experience of working with couples and families where there is an addiction present. A 'parallel process' often occurs, where the patterns of behaviour that are present in the addict/alcoholic are mirrored by those around them. This can create conflicts and confusing dynamics and therapy can provide a safe space where these can be explored and challenged. To find out more about therapy with me please email, text or call and I'll contact you to arrange a complimentary 20 minute phone consultation at a mutually convenient time.

I have been practising as a therapist since 2009 and have worked in various different settings both in the public and private sector including occupational health, residential treatment and the criminal justice sector. I have also been in private practice since 2012 and bring a wealth of experience to my work.
