Therapists
I offer both in-person and online sessions, short or long term. For face-to-face sessions, I work from therapy rooms in the Old Steine area of Brighton. Before we begin, I offer a free 15 minute consultation for you to see if you would like to work with me, and for me to assess if I have the expertise to help with the issues you are experiencing. If you would like to work together we will then go ahead with weekly sessions. Each session is 50 minutes long, and the fee is £60 per session.
My name is Cathryn and I work as a humanistic therapist with adults in the Brighton and Hove area. I work with individuals who have come to therapy seeking to explore and make meaning of experiences and challenges that life has presented so far, and the difficult, often confusing feelings that emerge from these. My approach is to work with you to build a safe, trusting space from where your unique identity and experiences can be explored safely and honestly at your own pace. I respect and welcome the personal journey that has led you into the therapy room, supporting you with warmth and kindness as you continue this.
I am a Humanistic therapist, with a post-graduate diploma from Brighton University, and am a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). I have worked as a therapist within the NHS and with vulnerable adults in the charity sector, supporting people with varied and complex needs. My professional background grounds my therapeutic work within a consideration of the intersectionality of the client’s experience, and how the overlap between varying social narratives and systems might contribute to this. I work inclusively, acknowledging and welcoming the similarities and differences between us. I work with a wide range of clients, but I have a particular strength in working with those who are neurodiverse. I have also worked with clients who have experienced substance misuse and/or received mental health diagnoses.
