Therapists
Hello, I am an experienced integrative counsellor, working in charities and other services in London and Brighton over the past eight years, and very much hope to support you now. I have particular experience and interest in working with trauma, attachment histories and relationships, addictions, existential concerns, anxiety and depression, chronic shame, loss and bereavement, ageing, life transitions and menopause, somatic presentations, and gender, sexuality and relationship diversity. Establishing trust and a sense of safety in the therapy relationship is the foundation for the way I work – by providing a compassionate, calming presence and experience of being attentively and warmly heard, seen and valued, I hope to provide a space where you can bring what you need to, to help explore and find a way through your current difficulties and challenges. I am a registered member of the BACP and work in accordance with its Ethical Framework. I identify within the LGBTQIA+ umbrella and practice affirmatively. I am trauma informed, sensitive to dynamics of power and privilege and committed to inclusive, anti-discriminatory and anti-oppressive practice. If you would like to get a better sense of how we might work together before taking any further steps, I offer a free initial 30 minute exploratory discussion by telephone/Zoom, or in person in the room too – please get in touch.
I am an integrative counsellor, using the working relationship that we develop as the foundation for the therapy and as a guide to the range of approaches and theories we can draw on that might be of particular help to you. I take an holistic approach to wellbeing – working with mindbody interconnectedness and endeavouring to understand you in all your wider life contexts. I offer in person therapy for adults, which can be either for a fixed term or open ended, always with regular ongoing reviews. We will contract for our work together so you will be clear of the terms of our working relationship. You are always in control of bringing about the ending of your therapy with me. My fee is £65 per session and I currently have availability during the days Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
I decided to retrain as a counsellor in 2013, following many positive experiences of therapy in helping me through my own life challenges and then feeling in a position to ‘give back’. I honour being able to be deeply present alongside people in their vulnerability. I have previously also worked in supporting roles in the media, visual arts and hospitality industries. I hold a Postgraduate diploma in Therapeutic Counselling from Greenwich University. I am committed to continual further learning and development of myself and my practice - I have most recently completed trainings in Body Listening (with the Brighton School of Embodied Therapy), Compassion Focussed Therapy (with the Compassionate Mind Foundation) and I am currently taking the diploma in Diversity, Cultural Competence, Race & Anti-Discrimination Practice with The Anti-Discrimination Focus. I have practiced in several mental health charities in both London and Brighton, and in university wellbeing and low-cost private services in London, over the past eight years.
