Therapists

Hello, I’m Jess, an accredited BACP therapist with a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling. I offer a warm, supportive, and non-judgemental space for individuals to explore what’s troubling them. I believe therapy can be a place of real self-discovery and change, where you are supported to make sense of your feelings, experiences, and relationships. I’ve worked with clients facing a range of issues including anxiety, low self-worth, trauma, depression, grief, and the emotional impact of physical illness. Alongside my private practice, I also work for Macmillan, supporting people affected by cancer – both patients and loved ones – as they process difficult emotions and life changes. I understand how hard it can be to open up, especially if you’re used to keeping things in or feeling like you “should” be coping better. My approach is grounded in empathy, confidentiality, and genuine curiosity about your inner world.

I work primarily from a psychodynamic perspective, which means exploring how past experiences and unconscious patterns might be influencing your present thoughts, feelings, and relationships. I pay particular attention to the therapeutic relationship and what emerges within the space between us, as this can often shed light on wider relational patterns. In addition to psychodynamic therapy, I integrate elements from other approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and somatic techniques where appropriate. This allows me to tailor sessions to your unique needs and support you in a way that feels grounding, compassionate, and effective. I am also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), which can be especially helpful for working with trauma or distressing memories. I offer both short-term and open-ended therapy, depending on what you’re seeking. Whether you’re looking for support with something specific or wanting to explore deeper emotional patterns, I aim to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and supported in making meaningful change.

Before becoming a therapist, I had a varied professional life, which gives me a deep appreciation for the many pressures people face in their personal and working lives. As part of my therapeutic work, I’ve supported clients from diverse backgrounds and life stages, and I have particular experience in working with individuals navigating health concerns, loss, life transitions, and relationship challenges. I am committed to ethical and professional practice, and I regularly take part in supervision and training to deepen my skills and ensure I’m offering the best possible support.
