I have been a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist for 12+ years and have worked with mental health for 20 years. I am passionate about helping people to understand their mental health and to understand what they need to change. It's not always easy to change but it's almost impossible if you don't know what or how to change. I want to help you efficiently discover what it is that is keeping you stuck and will be open and honest about what you need to change to achieve your goals. I want to make therapy easy to understand and not over complicated. I am friendly and warm but I am also challenging and want to try and help you. I don't want you to waste time and money by doing too much talking and not enough action. You will get value for money and make quicker progress if you are ready to make changes. Mental health is rarely black and white and there are no short cuts. However you can really make big changes to your life in short spaces of time with the right attitude and the right support. I will be nice to you, but that's not all I have to offer and that is rarely enough. I specialise in working with low self esteem, confidence and perfectionism. I enjoy helping people to have the confidence to be themselves and to value themselves. I also have a lot of experience of a range of anxiety disorders and depression.

I use a CBT approach to help understand your problem and to identify patterns of thinking and behaviour that are keeping you stuck. We can then decide together what needs to change and how to start working towards this. Just like there is no way of getting fit without exercise, there is no way of getting better without doing something different. I want to support you in doing this. Sometimes weekly sessions is useful and usually this is a good approach for the first few sessions. However, depending on what needs to change it can be better to look at fortnightly sessions or even monthly.

I have worked as a CBT therapist for 12+ years for the NHS and over 5 years privately too. I also work for the University of Sussex as a supervisor on the CBT course supporting trainee therapists. Whilst working for the NHS, I trained in couples Therapy and have practiced this for the last 4 years. Prior to that I studied psychology at University and graduated in 2000. I worked lots of different jobs when I moved to Brighton and then worked with homeless people in Brighton for several years prior to becoming a therapist. In my spare time I enjoy lots of different activities but surfing and football are my main passions.
