Therapists

Hi, I’m Frankie. As you might expect from a therapist profile, I offer a non-judgmental and confidential space where you can speak freely about how you’re feeling, what’s going on in your life and to help you explore your past to better understand yourself. This of course, is with the aim for you to redress the balance and ultimately feel better. But, if you want to learn more about me, my experience and how I work – please read on. Alternatively, we can book an informal 15-minute call to run through what’s going on for you, and to ask me any questions about me or the process. My website: www.frankieroake.com

If you feel as though you do not have someone you can talk to about how you’re feeling and what’s going on for you, then having this space is invaluable. Additionally, we can explore your history, your relationships, your life experiences and identify the patterns and dynamics in your life that contextualize who you are, and what you are going through. This awareness helps you to understand what your needs are and what you have control over in your life. I work at the pace that makes sense for you – there is no pressure, or expectation. Sometimes having the space to speak freely can feel daunting, and you might be needing more guidance and structure. This is where I might incorporate CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) exercises and explain theoretical concepts – to help you to better understand what is going on and what you might be able to experiment with. There is no one-size fits all approach, and it will be determined by what you need. My theoretical interests and leanings incorporate attachment theory & CBT related scientific concepts (polyvagal, fight/flight responses, conditional/core beliefs, etc). I am a qualified with a PG Diploma in Psychodynamic Psychotherapeutic Counselling (2021), accredited with the BACP (2024) and a trained clinical supervisor (2025). Before being professionally qualified, I volunteered for an LGBTQI+ mental health charity.

I welcome clients from all walks of life and any issues you want to talk about or work through. For example, this might include depression and low mood, suicidal thoughts, managing anxiety (relationship anxiety, health anxiety or social anxiety) & stress, difficulty feeling confident in yourself or processing trauma. I am experienced in working with self-harm, historic emotional neglect, abandonment, and emotional & narcissistic abuse. I am also experienced in working with emotional avoidance, drug/alcohol dependency, procrastination and shame. I have an interest and awareness of LGBTQI+ issues, gaming & internet cultures & neurodiversity.
