Hello, I’m Debra, an experienced humanistic psychotherapeutic counsellor offering a safe, supportive, non-judgemental space to help you explore your anxieties, difficulties, feelings and behaviours. I have gained experience working with various counselling services across the South East. As an ex-pat with experience of several international moves, I am particularly interested in working with cultural identity and diversity. I also hold experience in working with anxiety and stress, work-related issues, trauma, abuse, depression, relationship and psychosexual sexual issues, grief and loss, self harm and suicidal thoughts, identity, addiction, men’s issues and menopausal issues.
My therapeutic practice is humanistic, and I value your individuality and unique experiences. My role is to help you explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours to better understand how you relate to yourself, others and the world around you. By creating a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship, I can support you through your difficulties and help you become more self-aware and self-accepting. Other theories and methods to best suit your individual needs also inform my approach in the therapy space.
I am fully qualified and hold a BA (Hons) Degree in Humanistic Counselling, Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and a Diploma in Hypnotherapy. I have additional training in working with men, expressive arts, existential counselling, bereavement and loss and counselling in a diverse society. I practice within the BACP ethical framework and hold an Enhanced DBS certificate. I value diversity and individuality, and my practice is non-discriminatory.
