Hi, I'm Naomi (she/her). I'm an Integrative Arts Psychotherapist practicing in Brighton & Hove.
Art Psychotherapy is a modality underpinned by traditional Psychotherapy theory and technique, with the additional (completely optional) element of art. In practice this can take many forms, such as; the creation of music and visual arts, the introduction of bodywork and storytelling, or the more general use of metaphor and imagery. Utilizing the arts allows us to access another language through which to communicate, often for the experiences too complex or painful to distill into words. An integrative approach allows me to tailor the therapy to each individual that comes to see me, however I do primarily pull from humanistic and neurological viewpoints. My practice has a robust foundation in trauma-informed approaches, placing the safety and empowerment of all clients as the priority. I have a particular interest in working with complex trauma and the LGBT+ community.
I am a qualified Integrative Arts Psychotherapist (MA), registered with HCPC and under the membership bodies of the British Association of Arts Therapists, the Forensic Arts Therapies Advisory Group, and the International Association of Forensic Psychotherapists. I have experience working within NHS inpatient services, alongside adult mental health community and charity settings. I have undertaken additional training in Gender, Sexuality and Relationship Diversity, Anti-Oppressive Practice and Art Therapy & Social Action. In other terms, I aim to be a safe, informed and inclusive pair of hands consistently practicing in an ethical professional way.
