Therapists
I have 10 years of experience working therapeutically in a range of settings including in schools, colleges, in the NHS and in community settings, and with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, gender and sexuality, relationship difficulties, chronic health issues, and problems at work or in education. I also supervise other therapists and facilitate peer support groups for the LGBTQ+ community (instagram.com/dykepeersupport) and for people to share feelings around the climate crisis (climatecafebrighton.org).
I offer LGBTQ-friendly short or long term psychotherapy in central Brighton and online. I work integratively, which means that I draw on a variety of different therapeutic models, including existential therapy (thinking about meaning, purpose, choice and uncertainty in our lives), and mindfulness-based and compassion-focused therapy (exploring acceptance, self-compassion, and non-judgement towards ourselves), as well as considering the impact of our social worlds, relationships, and stress and trauma in our bodies. And it's totally fine if you have no idea what any of this means or what type of therapy you're looking for! I see each client as an individual with different therapeutic needs. So I work flexibly but focus on creating a strong relationship between us, working together to meet your goals, and supporting you to find your own answers rather than providing advice. A good relationship between therapist and client has a big impact on the effectiveness of therapy, so I offer a free consultation to see if working together feels right for both of us. This gives you a chance to find out more about how I work and whether I feel like a good fit for you.
I have particular experience working with issues around gender and sexuality, with LGBTQIAP+ clients, with clients who practise non-monogamy, polyamory, and BDSM, and with clients who are sex workers. I also have a particular interest in working with people experiencing climate anxiety and grief.
