My name is Theresa. If you feel lost, stuck, unable to move on or have problems too overwhelming to face alone please contact me. I realise that starting therapy can be a hard decision. This is why I offer a free 30 minute meeting to discuss your situation and to give us a sense of how we might work together. Therapy can give clarity, choice and the chance to live more authentically. It can help you to create new coping skills to deal with your problems giving you tools and skills to enable you to make meaningful change. A place to build emotional resilience and personalised coping skills. Contact me so we can start to explore working together.
I offer a unique collaborative approach in a safe authentic space to talk freely and make sense of aspects of you or behaviours that are troubling or conflicting. A calm reflective space to think about what’s happening in your life. I have a particular interest in exploring how early relationships shape our relationship to the present. How they can affect how we cope with stress and difficulties in the present. However, we do not need to talk about the past if you prefer not to, just bring to each session what’s important to you. I have experience working in many areas including anxiety, depression, addiction and trauma. I am a fully qualified Psychodynamic Counsellor but I also have experience working with CBT and may use this if applicable in sessions. I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) which means I meet the confidentiality and ethical standards of this organisation.
Prior to practicing as a counsellor I worked for many years supporting those suffering from the effects of trauma, anxiety, depression and substance abuse. I have worked at the Women's Centre in Brighton as well as hostels for those in active addiction with complex trauma and mental health needs.
