I am a psychodynamic therapist with personal experience of recovery from substance misuse and other harmful behaviours and thoughts. My own experience of how empowering and transformative therapy can be on this journey of healing has motivated me to want to support others with their struggles. I also work with family members and friends supporting their loved ones on their journey. I am aware that there are many paths and stumbling blocks to recovery. You may be feeling isolated, unheard, depressed, anxious or unable to reveal your true self to others. Counselling can offer you a safe space to be seen and heard and to start exploring the behaviours that are negatively affecting your life . There is no “one solution” and so I tailor my sessions on an individual basis. If you are interested in counselling but unsure what to expect contact me to arrange a free introductory call where you can find out more about how we would work together and ask any questions you have.

I am a Psychodynamic Therapist and work in a collaborative, open and empathetic way offering a non judgemental space to help you make sense of your actions and relationships. By working together to uncover the roots of repetitive feelings and behaviours the journey of reframing and healing can start. We will explore whether old behaviours, emotional responses and coping strategies learnt in your childhood may be affecting current behaviours, that are impacting your life negatively, or help to explain why you may use substances to cope. We will also work to develop tools to help you in the present in order to move forward. I work in a relational way which means I am active in sessions asking questions and suggesting links to your past when appropriate.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). I hold a postgraduate diploma in Psychodynamic Therapeutic Counselling. I have worked for many years in support roles in Brighton and Hove. For the last 7 years I have worked to support those suffering the effects of trauma, anxiety, depression and substance abuse at the Women's Centre in Brighton as well as hostels for those in active addiction with complex trauma and mental health needs.
