Starting therapy can feel daunting, and it can also be an important first step. In my practice, the therapeutic relationship is a space where current issues and difficult life experiences can be worked through. I am a specialist in trauma and sexual abuse, and, consequently, have extensive experience working with complex trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, shame, anger, addiction, self-harm, eating disorders, intimacy issues, feeling stuck and low self-esteem. It can be very uncomfortable to address personal problems, so I work with you to bring to light what your needs are to build a consistent and supportive relationship where you can speak without fear of judgement.

I take an integrative approach, in which I encourage you to be curious about how your difficulties relate to early life experiences, your expectations in the here-and-now and how you feel about yourself. In my experience, therapy can be helpful by challenging your way of looking at things and long held beliefs that may lie at the root of your difficulties. The therapeutic process often brings up feelings that can seem unwelcome and I work with you to help you understand unwanted emotions and deepen your connection to your body. My approach aims to raise your self-awareness and deepen your self-understanding, as this helps the way to new possibilities for living. It can be daunting to make contact for an initial meeting as it may seem vulnerable, exposing, or perhaps you have very good reasons to be wary of feeling seen. An initial session gives the opportunity to see what it is like to be in a room with me and get a sense of how my way of working can be helpful for you at this time in your life.

I am an accredited BACP therapist with a diverse range of experience, specialising in trauma and sexual abuse. I currently work with adults in two trauma services, Mankind UK and Lifecentre, alongside practicing privately. Prior to this, I have also worked in the NHS at Worthing Hospital and in two provisions for young people; Oasis Project and Dv8 Sussex. I also have experience volunteering in the charity sector for Cruse Bereavement Care.
