Hi, I'm Tom. I am a qualified counsellor (Level 4) since 2018. I am a registered member of the BACP. I assume you have reached my profile because you are in search of support around something that is not sitting right with you. You may have many questions around how counselling could work for you. I hope that together, through an initial consultation, we can talk through what is going on for you and how we may be able to work through that together and help you reach a clearer understanding of yourself and your thoughts and feelings. If you decide that I am someone you feel you can trust with your innermost thoughts then I hope we can go on a journey together of discovery of helping you to untangle the difficulties you are currently experiencing.

I was trained in person-centred approach where the client leads the way in our time together. You choose what you would like to bring to our sessions and with reflection and exploration I hope we can work towards you discovering more about yourself. With greater understanding of yourself, you may hopefully begin to feel more aware of how you function and realise what is helpful for you and what is not. With those foundations, I hope we can build a better way to manage what may be difficult for you at this time. I have also received training on solution focussed brief therapy and motivational interviewing which some clients find useful especially in regard to substance addiction.

I am from the London area and moved to Brighton 10 years ago. I have worked as a volunteer, key worker and now counsellor. I have worked within counselling agencies, charities and now in private practice. I trained with CPCAB over 5 years and I qualified in 2018 and have, over the last 12 years, mainly worked with people living with substance addiction, specifically alcohol and people involved with chemsex (crystal meth, GHB/GBL). Also supporting families/friends of people with substance addiction. I have found that supporting people through times of crisis in their lives, that providing a space where they can express themselves is the beginning of a journey where they can start to untangle what has been difficult for them and hopefully gain some understanding of themselves how they would like to move forward with their lives.
