Therapists

I was first taught Tarot by my grandmother when I was a teenager and I still have her deck. I've spent most of my career as a therapist, training in both traditional and alternative approaches to wellbeing - but I always returned to Tarot. For me the cards are a way of connecting to a guiding intelligence that is bigger than us, but also exists within us in the form of intuition. I see this as a wise inner compass and source of power that we can easily become estranged from by our over-reliance on the rational mind. I worked for many years as a psychotherapist before returning to my spiritual roots - so I know a lot about the rational mind! I've always had had a foot in both worlds and I feel this makes me grounded and balanced as a Tarot practitioner. More info on my website: katecoffey.co.uk or my Instagram: katecoffeytarot

As a psychotherapist I was taught that healing takes place relationally. So as a Tarot practitioner, I offer co-creation with the cards rather than a one-sided reading: you, me and the universe working together. Sessions with me revolve around a question, theme or issue you wish to explore. Together we can explore what the cards might be communicating, using their traditional meanings and how the imagery is speaking to you. Your intuition is a wise, creative and healing resource that is always true. My aim as a Tarot practitioner is to reconnect you with the guiding intelligence that already exists inside you. So what about divination? Well, in my experience the cards can signpost things on the road ahead. But they can also show us how to change direction, using all our resources and agency in the here and now. In this way we can shape our own future. I feel this is an empowering and rewarding way to work with the cards, and one that leads to lasting change. Therapeutic Tarot is short-term, between one and six sessions. The sessions are not psychotherapy, but are therapeutically informed. More info on my website: katecoffey.co.uk or my Instagram: katecoffeytarot

I’ve trained in various different therapeutic approaches over the years, both traditional and alternative. At the traditional end of things, I worked in the public sector for several years as a trauma counsellor as well as having a private practice as a psychotherapist. At the alternative end, I've co-run soul retrieval retreats, psycho-spiritual workshops and courses, worked as a Reiki practitioner for mental health charities and in the NHS and as a Spiritual Regression Therapist... amongst other things! I tend to always have some training on the go – I’m always curious to expand, to learn more and experience new ways of understanding myself and others. My next training is sound healing with the gong, which I'm looking forward to very much.
