I'm a highly qualified Systemic couple and family psychotherapist and mental health clinician with twenty years of experience working in the NHS mental health services. I'm registered with the Association of Family Therapy and accredited with the UK Council for Psychotherapy. I completed my training at King's College London and have an MSc in Systemic Family and Couple Psychotherapy. I'm also a registered social worker and practice educator. I currently work in the NHS child and adolescent mental health service (CAMHS) and eating disorder service, and I manage my own private practice. I'm experienced in working with couples, families, individuals, adolescents and children, providing evidence-based psychological interventions. I'm experienced working with trauma and most complex presentations, such as: eating disorders, emotional instability, depression, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, autism, bereavement, challenging behaviours, anger management and poor health-related issues. I also have experience of working with the difficulties that can arise following fostering or adoption or where there is a history of attachment difficulties. I also have experience of working with people who want to explore their identity relating to their gender and sexuality. I also have extensive experience of working with couples, where there have been issues in relation to trust, communication and intimacy. I have experience of working with couples and families before and after separation and step-family joining, and where there have been affairs.
My approach is Systemic, which means that I work with people to understand their relationships past and present. I tailor my approach to suit the people I'm working with, by listening to the issues you bring and by asking questions to explore emotional and relationship issues or loss and life transition difficulties, in which dilemmas, distress, emotions and confusion can be resolved by identifying unhelpful thought processes and patterns of behaviour that may be contributing towards you feeling stuck and frustrated. Using a strengths-based approach, I will work with you and provide feedback and make suggestions for you to choose from. I work with people to improve their understanding in their relationships and enhance their communication, promoting resilience and change, creating new coping strategies and the process of reconnection within the relationships of the people involved. I offer both short-term and long-term therapy to couples, families, children and individuals. My approach is Systemic, which means that I work collaboratively with people providing a safe, non-judgmental, confidential approach. I offer the first session as a consultation so you can make an informed choice about whether to proceed. I can be flexible with time frames and locations to conduct psychotherapy, and have access to consulting rooms. I'm also experienced in delivering therapy using on-line platforms. If you decide to work with me, sessions are 50 minutes long.
